I recieved a PM from Ingvar that he wants to give the City of Acre back to me (after I had given it to him last turn), I am not sure exactly why.
Is this OK? I assure you that no funny business is taking place. I will not move any of the units in that city on this turn to insure that those units will not have moved twice in 1 turn....
@McMonkey:
Lol, I looked at the save, why didn't you just take the city? Do you think we have made the Turks too strong via the events??

Acre is back under the control of the Normans.
- Marineritter im Seize the Crown

I understand whet you are saying Civi, but Civ2 is just a game. Its a shame all scenarios are not 100% realistic but you can't expect players not to play to the best of their ability because it is not how it happened historically. The only alternative is to introduce hundreds of house rules, but you can see how complicated that gets (EG Rise of the Dictators). I can't agree with your decision. Seems to me like:
...
How else would I invade north Africa?
Or perhaps the point is that I should not do so at all?
...
...
In the Imperialism game I am taking part in Karlheinz has taken most of my cities, and has now put Paris under siege, by building a fort and filling it with siege units.
I am sure at no time in the history of warfare would that be even remotely thinkable.
I am very interested in knowing what tactics you would find to be correct in such a scenario, were the only way to attack a city is by using that tactic I just described.
Should players perhaps not take cities?
I am afraid that I have to disagree with you Civi.
On many occasions, European powers have invaded and even held the coastal cities of North Africa during the Middle Ages, even before the reconquista of Spain!
The Republic of Pisa raided and sacked towns in Tunisia (Mahdia is mentioned on wikipedia) in the 11th Century.

Then the Normans conquered and held Tripoli, Cape Bona, Mahdia and Sfax from approximately 1135-1160.

In the 1200s, the Aragonese embarked on campaigns in Tunisia under Peter III:

What is true is that whilst the Europeans were able to conquer cities in North Africa, they were unable to hold on to them for long. It remains to be seen if they will be able to in this game, after all you will be getting NONE support veteren Event generated troops appearing in the Sahara every turn, even if you were to lose all of the cities in the area, you will still get them each turn.
By the way, I have just begun testing out this scenario a little bit in single player mode and I have been adjusting it somewhat so that the next version will be more "realistic". One of the changes that I have already made is to add a few more Arab cities in North Africa so that the Arabs will not be stretched so thin across the coast.
So what's it to be Civi? Will you continue or do we need to find a replacement?
I hope you decide to carry on, but if not then I'm sure someone else will be willing to take up the challenge!
......(in case some meaning is lost)....
Civilionaut, if you have special wishes about how the games are to be played you should say so at the start, rather than waste everyones time.
The scenario was designed so that a ship could carry five units, maybe that is wrong, but that is the way the scenario is.
You should have brought this issue up before we started, since you have not been content with it in the past, and I agree with you, to a point.
I find this behaviour very disrespectful!
