I prefer a period of peace
I am against a period of peace. We could weaken the Daimyo though.

As for a weaker daimyo... it is a possibility, but how much weaker?
1) I am against banning sneak attacks. That's what makes wars fun.
2) Chikugo. It's called the Age of War Karlheinz, no need to apologize!
3) Daimyos. Yes, they are strong right now. But later in the game, they take a back seat to Naginatas, Ninjas, and Heavy Cavalry. And Daimyos early in the game are always vulnerable to ninjas out in the open.
Karlheinz- You're welcome to Chikugo. I'll take Buzen in return, that Yari Samurai on the hills won't be a problem for my Daimyo.
EDIT: What did Karlheinz say in his last post? I couldn't understand the translation.
Yes, but who will actually get to see the "later" part of the game?
The 2 or 3 civs who managed to keep their daimyos alive while everybody else got killed off in the first 10 turns?
The problem is the daimyo's strength now, later he is quite manageable and balanced, but right now speaking in vanilla Civ 2 terms it's like pitting a tank against warriors and phalanges.
Edit: KH suggested that players be given 2k gold at the beginning and a 5 turn peace time for people to prepare.
Although I am a little reluctant to restart now that I have shown my hand I would rather play in a game that everyone else can enjoy. If the current setup is too lopsided then I think we should make some changes and restart.
I think the stats should stay the same. We should all get +2000 gold to build some units and a period of peace should be agreed upon before we start fighting. Currently the first few players to move have a huge advantage over their enemies.
Better to restart now after one round of turns that try and persist with a game where half the players are handicapped from turn 1!
Sneak attacks should be allowed once the allotted turns of peace have expired!
Ok, so x turns of peace and +2k gold it is, then?
Should we be allowed to go to war with the Ronin during the peace period?
I am totally against restarting. There are clans which start weak but have a great potential and there are clans which start strong but have to fight early to gain potential. This was intended that way by the scenario creator. If we install a 5 turn peace period AND give everyone 2000 gold the balance of this scenario will shift greatly to the favor of the clans with great potential and weak starting position.
Anyone who wants a long period of peace should better play Belle Epoque or Colonialism. I will be frank, if we restart under these conditions I am out.
