Was sagt ihr?

Death has reared himself a throne
Der Tod sich selbst gezüchtet hat,
[NEWLINE]In a strange city lying alone
den Thron in einer fremden Stadt,
[NEWLINE]Far down within the dim West,
Weit abseits im dunklen Westen,
[NEWLINE]Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
dort wo die Schlimmsten und die Besten,
[NEWLINE]Have gone to their eternal rest.
das Bett der ew'gen Ruhe testen.
[NEWLINE]There shrines and palaces and towers
Schreine und Paläste dort,
[NEWLINE](Time-eaten towers that tremble not!)
(vergang'ne, nicht zerfall'ne Türme!)
[NEWLINE]Resemble nothing that is ours.
gleichen nichts an unsrem Ort.
[NEWLINE]Around, by lifting winds forgot,
hier, selbst vergessen durch die Stürme,
[NEWLINE]Resignedly beneath the sky
liegt traurig unterm Himmelszelt,
[NEWLINE]The melancholy waters lie.
gleichgültig das Wasserfeld.
[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]No rays from the holy heaven come down
kein heil'ger Himmelstrahl befreit,
[NEWLINE]On the long night-time of that town;
die Stadt von tiefer Dunkelheit,
[NEWLINE]But light from out the lurid sea
doch grelle Lichter aus dem Meer,
[NEWLINE]Streams up the turrets silently-
schleichen um die Türme her,
[NEWLINE]Gleams up the pinnacles far and free-
so glänzen ihre Spitzen mehr,
